"It comes to you, this stuff just flies through the air, they send this information "beamed" out over the ******* place, you just got to know how to grab it, see, I know how to grab it." Keslo in the movie Heat.

06-09-2026 - 5:00 AM - Good Morning! It’s Taco Tuesday, and since I mowed the yard yesterday, I don’t have anything scheduled for today. Google the location of our various taco-vending food trucks. They're easy to find. I updated the International Space Station Passes Over Wichita Falls page with a few more events. Our lake levels rose a little more since yesterday. We could use more. My Folgers Black Silk coffee is ready.

--- 5:05 AM - NWS Forecast - Today: Sunny, with a high near 94. Heat index values as high as 99. South wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 23 mph. Tonight: Clear, with a low around 75. South wind 13 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 23 mph.

--- 5:20 AM - According to Water Data for Texas, Wichita Falls reservoirs are: Arrowhead: 84.4% Kemp: 98.7% Kickapoo: 90.9%. Monitored Water Supply Reservoirs are 93.1% full. The City of Wichita Falls uses combined levels of Arrowhead and Kickapoo (88.55%) to determine drought stage.

--- 5: 55 AM - ERCOT (Texas) snapshot of grid conditions - ERCOT reports that conditions are normal and there is enough power for current demand with an operating reserve of 11,706 Megawatts.

6:10 AM - I became interested in Amateur (ham) Radio as a kid in the early 1960s. I ordered study material from the American Radio Relay League (ARRL), but never did anything with it. My CB Radio life began on Christmas Day, 1964, when I received a pair of Spacephone walkie-talkies. From then until 1982, it was CB Radio for me. Then I got a Bearcat 220 programmable scanner radio, and everything changed. MORE!

--- 6:20 AM - I was "today" years old when I heard about Those Two Julies Resale at 4020 Rhea Road, Suite 3C, in Wichita Falls. This is the Finishing Touch PLaza. Their hours are Monday – Thursday: 10am – 6pm, Friday: 10am – 5pm, and Saturday: 10am – 4pm. Phone: 940-263-1373.

--- 8:15 AM - From Google AI Overview - In Texas, "horse tripping" is strictly prohibited under the state's animal cruelty laws. Under Texas Penal Code § 42.09, intentionally tripping or roping a horse's legs to force the animal to fall and trip is classified as a criminal offense." I just thought you might want to know that.

9:35 AM - Our two new high schools, Legacy and Memorial, are, in my opinion, grand structures. I toured the Legacy location last year. While the formal tours might be over, getting an opportunity to stroll the building is worth the trip. Both schools are identical. I was surprised to find that there is no rifle range for R.O.T.C., and cadets have to be bused to the old schools for that activity. Unknown if this shortcoming will be, or has been, rectified.

--- 12:40 PM - Federal Trade Commission Actions

--- 1:05 PM - According to a story on the NBC DFW website, the Texas Department of Public Safety has notified the North Texas Tollway Authority (NTTA) that it will not renew the agreement, which expires at the end of August this year, to patrol the NTTA roadway. These roadways include the Dallas North Tollway, President George Bush Turnpike, and Sam Rayburn Tollway. The reason given was that the current agreement restricts the Department’s flexibility and its ability to respond effectively to an “ever-changing threat environment.”

--- 1:55 PM - The 20-meter Amateur (ham) Radio band is taking a nap, so it’s on to the CB Radio for local and national communications. Maybe international if conditions are good. Yes, I know there are the 10-, 12-, 15-, and 17-meter bands, and a few more, but I simply have no interest in operating on most of them. I say most because I do listen in on the 40-meter band in the morning. That won’t make sense to a lot of hams. Many of them won't get the "CB Radio" part, either. I can't worry about any of that.

5:45 PM - As I walked through Walmart this afternoon, I found myself hoping that there is no such thing as reincarnation. What if I were to come back as one of the Walmartians I saw today, and every other day I visit Walmart? I’d rather there be eternal nothingness.

--- 7:50 PM - My online research indicates that production of the full-size Impala officially ended in February 2020, and production of the Malibu ended in 2024. I think Chevy should do what they should have done years ago: combine the two cars as the Chevy Impalabu or Malpala. Either will do.

--- 7:55 PM - I love it when someone on the CB Radio fires up their dirty amplifier and splatters across 6 channels. I'm listening to the word famous West Coast Sultan of Splatter right now. I can only hope that one day, RF exposure will do its thing.

--- 8:00 PM - The Clay County Amateur Radio Club is on the air with their weekly emergency practice net on the club's 146.800 MHz repeater. If you're a Ham Radio Operator, check in and say hello. If not, tune in with your scanner radio or shortwave radio.
