THE THEME is Hobby Radio Communications, but I also write about other things that interest me. If these things interest you, you'll hang around. If not, you'll go elsewhere. I've been a CB Radio Operator since 1964, and an Amateur (ham) Radio Operator since 1982. I've held an Amateur "Extra" license since 1983. I also have a General Mobile Radio Service (GMRS ) license.
I have a wide interest in Hobby Radio as an observer and reporter, but I have a very narrow interest when it comes to operating. For me, the magic is in the contact, not the conversation. I engage in direct, analog, "my antenna to your antenna" communications. I am not connected with any Amateur (ham) Radio club or organization, but I might report publicly available information about them. I am not a mentor or source of technical information, but I will give you one tip: Put your money into the antenna - big, high, or both!
I received a Private Pilot Certificate in 1972. I went on to earn an Instrument Rating, Commercial Pilot Certificate, Multi-Engine Rating, Flight Instructor Rating, and Instrument Instructor Rating. I also enjoyed jumping out of airplanes, even the "perfectly good" ones. That was all in another life. My college major, in that other life, was Political Science. I never discuss politics. I spent 6 years, 7 months, and 23 days in the U.S. Army.
I had an “X” (formerly known as Twitter) account for this site. I quickly learned that its only attribute was to keep me from writing new content. In no way did it drive traffic. I changed the “@” name and deleted it. I opened a new “X” account under the original "@" name. The new account is for research only. There is no need to follow. Apologies to my former followers, but it was purely a business decision. I have no other social media accounts.
This simple, static, database-free, script-free site has one function: to put my text on your screen. Content Management Systems such as WordPress are bloated overkill for my needs. My desire for a database-free, script-free (care-free) site outweighs the benefits of hosting comments. Do what works for you and your site. This arrangement works for me. Cookies are not used.
