08-31-2023 - The CB Radio band has yet to awaken. I'm hearing only hints of traffic on Channels 6 and 38. It's still early. I'll enjoy local traffic on 19 for now. I'll check the DX channels a little later.

08-31-2023 - There's a little local dust-up in progress on CB Radio Channel 19. It sounds like a trucker is taking exception to a local operator trying to work DX on 19. I think they came to an agreement to meet at the OK Corral at sundown. In real life, I changed channels so I don't know what happened.

08-31-2023 - According to one report, the new President McKinley II, AM/FM/SSB CB Radio should be available any day now. I'm sure the reviews will be positive, but I'll wait a while before investing in one.

08-31-2023 - Good Morning! While sipping my coffee, I put the CB Radio on scan to see if any local traffic is hiding on some channel I don't regularly monitor. I've found two channels in semi-regular local use this way. As for our local hams, I haven't heard as much "morning drive" traffic as in past years.

08-30-2023 - I've seen a lot of online comments that the Citizens Band Radio Service enables new opportunities for rural broadband. I'm sure they mean Citizens Broadband Radio Service. But, you know what they say. There's no such thing as bad publicity.

08-30-2023 - CB Radio Channel 38 LSB is wild right now, jam-packed with signals from everywhere. No one is really dominating at the moment, so I'm unable to pick out a call sign or handle.

08-30-2023 - Good morning! It's coffee time - Folgers Black Silk, not Starbucks - and time to spin the dial on the CB Radio to see what's happening. As expected, the band is still asleep. I do hear a couple of truckers chatting as they pass through town. I don't doubt that things will pick up later. While waiting, I'll transfer myself - and my coffee - to the exercise bike and put in 30 minutes.

08-29-2023 - On the CB Radio, local trucks are getting into position to do something or another. I have no idea what it might be. Skip can be heard in the background. In fact, spinning the dial reveals traffic on 75% of the band. The local hams have been quiet today.

08-28-2023 - I have the first issue - 1962 - of "S9 The Citizens Band Journal." I bought it on eBay several years ago. The spine is in less-than-perfect condition. It's not detached but it's getting a little worn. Some library archival tape might be in order. Maybe I'll find one in perfect condition one of these days.

08-28-2023 - Someone local has CB Radio Channel 19 locked down. There's just a "carrier" with no audio. They must be mobile because the signal is getting weaker with time. I don't know if it's intentional or if they're sitting on the microphone. Either situation is not exactly uncommon.

08-28-2023 - Someone on CB Radio Channel 19, sounding sleepy or tipsy, is asking people to send him money so he can buy a new CB Radio. He's probably in the corner of a Walmart parking lot holding up an "out-of-gas" or "out-of-work" sign, too. He might even be in a wheelchair, close to his car where he can reach the CB Radio microphone.
