11-25-2024 - 5:32 AM - Good Morning! It's Monday! There are no local Amateur (ham) Radio nets today, but there is assorted activity on the scanner radio. The WFISD begins their Thanksgiving break today, so there will be no school bus or school handheld radio traffic. The Cowboys put on an interesting show yesterday and, on top of that, they won! According to the National Weather Service, Wichita Falls reached 80 degrees yesterday. Today, we can expect a high of 54 degrees. My Folgers Black Silk coffee is ready!

11-24-2024 - 8:00 PM - The Wichita Amateur Radio Society weekly informal net is on the air on the 147.140 MHz repeater. They meet every Sunday at 8:00 PM.

11-24-2024 - I'm flipping back and forth between the Chiefs - Panthers and the Cowboys - Commanders games and scanning the 20-meter Amateur (ham) Radio band for Parks on the Air® traffic. The 20-meter band, however, must be taking a nap because signals are weak. It's back to football, I guess.

11-24-2024 - There are several places where you can see streetcar tracks in Wichita Falls - North 8th and North Brook, North 9th and North Brook, and Harrison and Collins. There are probably other spots I'm not aware of. There were no streetcars in service when my family moved to town in 1966. As a kid in St. Louis, I rode the streetcars for 12¢, the same as the price of a White Castle slider.

11-24-2024 - If you're a CB Radio enthusiast, a local group has been meeting at 5:30 PM on CB Radio Channel 23 most nights of the week in Wichita Falls for many years.

11-24-2024 - The Wichita Amateur Radio Society holds a weekly informal net on Sundays at 8:00 PM on the club's 147.140 MHz repeater. As far as I know, all licensed Amateur (ham) Radio operators are invited to check in. Of course, scanner radio enthusiasts can also tune in.

It's like giving your generator a regular run. Use the more inclusive two-meter FM simplex. Analog, please! GMRS users, you can play, too! My coffee is ready!

11-23-2024 - I made contact with KB3MDD at Brazos Bend State Park (US-2992) in Texas on 20 meters (14 MHz) CW (Morse code) in the Amateur (ham) Radio Parks on the Air® program.
