09-30-2024 - Good Morning! It's Monday, and I have nothing on my schedule for today. I might find something to fix around the house, and I might not. Since I started in January of this year, I have worked (contacted) 353 unique state and national parks in the Amateur (ham) Radio Parks on the Air® program. I haven't been very energetic in my "park hunting" efforts lately. I missed the visible pass of the International Space Station last night because I was watching football. I didn't hear anything on the ISS Amateur (ham) Radio "downlink" frequencies on my scanner. My Folgers Black Silk coffee is ready!
09-29-2024 - Over Friday and Saturday evenings, I binge-watched the second season of Reacher. I was entertained.
09-29-2024 - The Wichita Amateur Radio Society holds a weekly informal net on Sundays at 8:00 PM on the club's 147.140 MHz repeater. As far as I know, all licensed Amateur (ham) Radio operators are invited to check in. Of course, scanner radio enthusiasts can also tune in.

09-28-2024 - I was reading about "solar shingles" this morning. These shingles look and perform like conventional shingles but also provide power for the home. They're not cheap. My big concern would be their ability to survive a Texas hail storm. What do insurance companies think about them? Will they trigger a premium boost? I'm not worried, just curious. They are out of my price range.
