09-22-2024 - Good Morning! It's Simplex Sunday, a day to give those Amateur Radio repeaters a break and flex those simplex muscles. It's like giving your generator a regular run. Use the more inclusive two-meter FM simplex. Analog, please! GMRS users, you can play, too! I'll probably watch a few football games today. It looks like we have a decent chance of rain later today and tomorrow. Unknown if I'll mow the backyard. My coffee is ready!
Interception and Divulgence of Radio Communications

09-20-2024 - 06:30 - Good Morning! It's Friday, and some weekend Amateur (ham) Radio contests will soon begin. Many Ham Radio people live for contests. I know one such local avid contester who erected four antenna towers on his property, and then his job required him to move to another state. I'm calling "ouch!" on that one! I have nothing on the schedule today. Tomorrow will probably be lawn mowing day for me. I didn't work any Parks on the Air® stations yesterday. I'll look for one or two later when the 20-meter band opens. My coffee is ready!
A Case of Hobby Radio Antenna Envy in Wichita Falls
09-19-2024 - At 5:30 PM, I hear some activity on the International Space Station repeater downlink frequency of 437.800 MHz. I got only a piece of a call sign before the signal disappeared. I'm probably at the edge of its range and I'm using an attic-mounted discone antenna on my scanner radio. Maybe I'll get a closer pass - with radio activity - before long.
