09-15-2024 - I saw this headline: "Inside 'shark bite capital of world'..." Sharks and I came to an agreement a long time ago - they stay out of Wichita Falls and I'll stay out of the ocean. So far, this has worked fine.
09-15-2024 - Do you remember when grocery stores had pinball machines and tube testers?
09-15-2024 - Weekend visitation continues at the James V. Allred Unit, and you can tune in to the action at 153.815 MHz on your scanner radio.
09-15-2024 - I made contact with N9WPY at Willow Slough State Fish and Wildlife Area (US-4233) in Indiana on 20 meters (14 MHz) CW (Morse code) in the Amateur (ham) Radio Parks on the Air® program.
09-15-2024 - At 8:00 AM, I see a lone listing for 20 meters - W. Goodrich Jones State Forest in Texas on the Parks on the Air® spotter page. I already have that one, so I'll wait for more to appear. It's early.
09-15-2024 - Sunday - The Wichita Amateur Radio Society holds a weekly informal net on Sundays at 8:00 PM on the club's 147.140 MHz repeater. As far as I know, all licensed Amateur (ham) Radio operators are invited to check in. Of course, scanner radio enthusiasts can also tune in.

09-15-2024 - 6:14 AM - ERCOT (Texas) snapshot of grid conditions - ERCOT reports that conditions are normal and there is enough power for current demand with an operating reserve of 9,712 Megawatts.
09-15-2024 - Good Morning! It's Sunday, and NFL football and various Amateur (ham) Radio nets, contests, special events, and related activities will be happening. I'm not a super football fan, but I watch the Cowboys and a few other games. I like the Cowboys, but these players make too much money for me to lose sleep worrying about whether they win or lose. My coffee is ready!
09-14-2024 - I made contact with WB0TUA at August G Beckmeier State Conservation Area (US-11266) in Missouri on 20 meters (14 MHz) CW (Morse code) in the Amateur (ham) Radio Parks on the Air® program.
09-14-2024 - Over 40 years ago, Halliburton, with associated buildings and trucks, was located at the intersection of Kemp and Call Field. It's hard to imagine that look today.
09-14-2024 - I stopped by Tommy's on Old Iowa Park Road and loaded up on fried rice and egg rolls for the Cowboys game tomorrow. They make good donuts and breakfast burritos in the morning!
09-14-2024 - It's Saturday and visitation time at the James V. Allred Unit in Wichita Falls. No, it's not in Iowa Park. It merely has an Iowa Park mailing address. Tune in to Allred operations at 153.815 MHz on your scanner radio.
09-14-2024 - At 11:00 there is a handful of Parks on the Air® station on the POTA spotter page, but the 20-meter band is flat as a pancake. For reasons that even I barely understand, I'm only working Parks on the Air® on 20 meters. It takes a lot of energy to flip that band switch on the tuner, so I just sit on 20 meters. Don't even mention awards for doing this and doing that on all bands. I dont chase paper. So why do I even work the parks? Code practice!
