08-21-2024 - Good Morning! It's off to the dentist this morning for a little drilling. The heat wave continues, but we'll be slightly cooler (barely noticeable) than yesterday. I'm looking forward to cooler weather so I can play Ham Radio from a few of our local parks. We don't have a state or national park that will count for the Amateur (ham) Radio Parks on the Air® program, but that's not the point. The point is to enjoy the hobby in the outdoors. My Folgers Black Silk coffee is ready!
08-20-2024 - I made contact with K0BXB at Richard Bong State Recreation Area (US-4265) in Wisconsin on 20 meters (14 MHz) CW (Morse code) in the Amateur (ham) Radio Parks on the Air® program.
08-20-2024 - Today, I had flashbacks of Sikes Senter Mall in Wichita Falls in the 80's and 90's. I remember when Sikes hosted a Chick-fil-A, a Chinese restaurant, the name of which I can't remember, and a Whataburger. I remember you couldn't enter the Chinese restaurant from inside the mall because they served alcohol. But you can have a gun show inside the mall! I have nothing against guns or alcohol, but it seemed like a strange rule. Also, mall security officers were armed back then. Now, the most exciting thing about the mall is BG's Barber Shop!
08-20-2024 - I made contact with KD9UDV at Ouabache State Park (US-2263) in Indiana on 20 meters (14 MHz) CW (Morse code) in the Amateur (ham) Radio Parks on the Air® program.

08-20-2024 - At 8:45 AM, there is a lot of Ham Radio activity on 146.520 FM simplex. I hear Phil, K5ACR in Oklahoma, NB5Z, Jerry in Burkburnett, and a station with a "2" call sign. Joel, N5XTR, checked in while mobile southeast of Dallas. I couldn't hear Joel. VHF simplex is still alive in the North Texas area.
