08-15-2024 - 5:40 AM - Good Morning! According to local news reports, the Highlander Public House in the Petroleum Building has closed permanently. One factor appears to be damage suffered by the business due to construction on the upper floors of the building. I saw an online ad from the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) touting their $21.48/hr starting pay. That's not bad. With the Allred Unit's four on/four off schedule, you can get out of town regularly and have a few dollars to spend. Around this time, I sometimes get on X, formerly known as Twitter, and invite everyone in line at Starbucks at Kemp and Kell to leave and go across the street to Frank & Joe's coffee. I think that Starbucks location is under renovation. My Folgers Black Silk coffee is ready!

One more day before the school buses (152.360 MHz) and the school handheld radios (151.940 MHz) are back in action for your scanner radio enjoyment. It looks like Clay County is cracking down on ATV use due to an increase in complaints and accidents involving those vehicles. Get a horse! It's coffee time!
