08-04-2024 - The new Starbucks at Windthorst Road and E. Central Freeway - across from the Loves Truck Stop - did not seem overrun with customers when I drove by this morning at 10 AM. I guess the morning rush is over. The Maurine St. location didn't work out. Let's see what happens here.
08-04-2024 - I made contact with N9WPY at LaSalle State Fish and Wildlife Area (US-4213) in Indiana on 20 meters (14 MHz) CW (Morse code) in the Amateur (ham) Radio Parks on the Air® program.

08-04-2024 - Good Morning! It's Sunday. I watched Bone Tomahawk on Netflix last night. Brutal! Other than playing Ham Radio, I have nothing on my schedule for today. I have the CB Radio on Channel 38, a popular DX (skip shooting) channel. It's dead now, but those signals will slowly emerge from the ether as the 11-meter band comes alive. Later, it's back to the Amateur (ham) Radio 20-meter band for more Parks on the Air® action. It's still early, and my Folgers Black Silk coffee is ready.
08-03-2024 - A local Amateur (ham) Radio operator was operating CW (Morse code) out of Copper Breaks State Park near Quanah this afternoon. The problem was that I could not hear him. His signal - 20 meters - was skipping by overhead. How did I know he was there? The Parks on the Air® spotter page said so!

I sometimes see myself in the guard shack, or whatever they call it, kicked back, making CW (Morse code) Parks on the Air® contacts with my QRP Labs QCX Mini, sending my 5-watt signal through a tuner and into the flagpole out front. I might even greet visitors if I have time.
