06-21-2024 - According to national news reports, China owns land near 19 U.S. military bases. I'd say our intelligence-gathering satellites and U-2 aircraft have their work cut out for them.
06-21-2024 - According to local news reports, three people were arrested in connection with what was described as a "fake" convenience store robbery. Back in the days before "pay at the pump" and security cameras, it was not unknown for a convenience store clerk to fill up their gas tank and then call in a "gas drive-off." These days, with security cameras everywhere, a studio-grade movie production is needed to pull off a similar stunt.

06-21-2024 - Good Morning! It's Friday, and for many of you, it's the end of the work week. I'm retired, so it's just another day for me. Listening to many Parks on the Air® contacts, I hear some stations signing off with a "72" rather than the customary "73", which means Best Regards. I learned some time ago that "72" means the sending station is running low power or QRP. I wonder if stations cranking out 1,000 watts will start using "74" or "75"? Let's hope not. My Folgers Black Silk coffee is ready!

Memorial High School, on the other side of town, is in a less radio-friendly location.
