05-27-2024 - Good Morning! I don't know why I'm awake at 4:30 AM, but stranger things have happened. I'll see what's happening in the world of Morse code on the 40-meter Amateur (ham) Radio band while the coffee is brewing. I've made contact, using Morse code, with "hams" in 195 state or federal parks (Parks on the Air® program) since I began this activity on Jan 1, 2024. It usually doesn't take me long to get bored with an activity, so let's see where this goes. But what would be next?

05-26-2024 - NOAA SPACE WEATHER - Last 24 Hours - Radio Blackouts (None) Solar Radiation Storms (None) Geomagnetic Storms (None)

05-26-2024 - NWS Forecast - Today: Sunny and hot, with a high near 98. South southwest wind 11 to 15 mph becoming west northwest in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 23 mph. Tonight: Clear, with a low around 65. Northwest wind around 8 mph becoming northeast after midnight.

05-26-2024 - Good Morning! Wichita Falls dodged some nasty weather yesterday evening. The forecast for today is a hot 98 degrees. Look out for those days when it's 100 degrees at 9:00 in the morning. You know it's going to be a toasty day. I'm much more of a Winter person. On the Amateur (ham) Radio, the CW (Morse code) contests are still going strong. Most of these contesters are CW speed demons, sending Morse like machine gun fire. Well, it's most likely their keyers or computers sending that high-speed stuff, but not always. My Folgers Black Silk coffee is ready.

05-25-2024 - At 7:30 PM, the contesters on 20 meters (14 MHz) CW (Morse code) pushed the Parks on the Air® stations into hiding. I see one Parks on the Air® station on the POTA spotter page, while the CW sub-band is jam-packed with contesters. That's fine. The contesters are usually at it on weekends, and that leaves the weekdays for POTA. At least that arrangement works for me.

05-25-2024 - At 3:00 PM, Wichita Falls area Amateur (ham) Radio Skywarn® storm spotters were activated in response to storms approaching the city. Listen in at 146.940 MHz on your scanner radio.
