05-17-2024 -Listening to the 147.140 MHz repeater this evening, it sounds like some Amateur (ham) Radio operators will provide communications support for an event tomorrow. I'm not "in the loop" on all local Ham Radio happenings, so I have no idea what the event might be. Maybe my scanner radio will reveal all tomorrow, or maybe not.

05-17-2024 - Good Morning! It's Friday, and I'm up to 168 parks in the Parks on the Air® program. I've got six states to go for working a park in each state plus the District of Columbia. I got the elusive Oklahoma yesterday. It's elusive on the 20-meter band anyway. Too close for a sky wave (skip) - our signals bounce over each other, and too far for a ground wave - limited by terrain features, antenna height, etc. I doubt anyone in a park is using an amplifier. I don't own one and never will. I own some Folgers Black Silk coffee, and I'm pouring a cup now!

05-16-2024 - Travelers are passing through town and chatting on 146.520 FM simplex. I know not where they came from or where they're headed. Their signal strength maxed out and stayed there so that, along with much talk about weather, tells me these might be storm chasers. They did identify, though.
