05-05-2024 - Good Morning. We got rain last night and a power outage this morning. Neither lasted very long. There's a small chance of rain today. I've heard several people on the radio talking about how fast their grass is growing. I've noticed that, too. More mowing equals more exercise. How is that a bad thing? My coffee is ready!
05-04-2024 - I'm waiting to work a park on CW (Morse code) in the Parks on the Air® program, and the activator is "writing a book" on each contact. This guy is obviously not a contester. I know this is not a contest, but you know what I mean. It's amusing only because I don't need that state.

05-04-2024 - At 7:50 AM, I got about 30 seconds of audio on 437.800 MHz, the downlink frequency of the Amateur (ham) Radio cross-band repeater aboard the International Space Station. A few call signs were exchanged before the signal faded. That's all I could expect from my current scanner antenna, a discone antenna in the attic.
05-04-2024 - I hear talk on the 147.140 MHz repeater that would lead me to believe that some local Amateur (ham) Radio Operators are assembling at the Pioneer #3 restaurant for their usual Saturday morning "eyeball QSO."

Not long after that, I was back in line at the Coronet to see Close Encounters of the Third Kind. Enough of the past! My Folgers Black Silk Coffee is ready!
