05-03-2024 - Good Morning! I was just a kiddo, but I remember our family trip from Lackland AFB to Sheppard AFB in 1966. Near Mineral Wells on U.S. 281, the sky was filled with tiny helicopters from Fort Wolters carrying students & instructors. Many students went to Vietnam. Too many never came home. My Folgers Black Silk coffee is ready!

Partly sunny, with a high near 83. South wind 6 to 13 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. Tonight: A 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 1am. Some of the storms could be severe. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 62. North northeast wind 7 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

05-01-2024 - Earlier, I posted news of a rumor that MFJ Enterprises might be up for sale. I was close. MFJ Owner Martin F. Jue has announced that he will retire and begin to close the business effective May 17, 2014. The company will cease all product manufacturing on that date but will continue to sell the remaining stock. Martin said they will also continue repair services for "the foreseeable future. MFJ acquired Ameritron, Hy-Gain, Cushcraft, Mirage, and Vectronics.

04-30-2024 - The Wichita County Amateur (ham) Radio Skywarn® storm spotters appear to be doing a "soft" activation at about 8:30 PM. There is a suspicion that a cell in the severe storms just northwest of the Red River may be "back building" toward Wichita Falls. Several spotters are headed to the Burkburnett area to observe. Tune in to the action at 146.940 MHz on your scanner radio.
