01-20-2026 - 5:00 AM - Good Morning! It’s Tuesday once again, and the Clay County Amateur Radio Club will hold its weekly practice net tonight at 8:00 PM on the club’s 146.800 MHz repeater. The NWS forecast is calling for a low of 9 degrees Saturday night. I told you we would pay for those nice days we had last week! My Folgers Black Silk coffee is ready!
--- 5:15 AM - NWS Forecast - Today: Sunny, with a high near 54. Light south southwest wind increasing to 6 to 11 mph in the morning. Tonight: Increasing clouds, with a low around 42. South southwest wind 6 to 10 mph.
--- 5:30 AM - According to an article at “The Layoff” website, FedEx plans to shut down its “Ship Center” at 2701 Southridge Dr. in February. Employees have been notified and will be offered placement assistance, according to the article.
--- 5:45 AM - In the news - Fiery crash on Central Freeway leads to one fatality, Wichita Falls man faces charges for motel destruction and theft, Burning vehicle crash in Wichita Falls, injuries unknown.
--- 6:15 AM - I often see Allred Unit Correctional Officers in Walmart in a state of DWI - Dressing Without an Iron. Does TDCJ still have free laundry service + starch? Are the days of creases & spit-shined shoes over? From the bellies I see, meals are still free at Allred.
--- 9:30 AM - The license-free, five-channel Multi-Use Radio Service walkie-talkies are getting a workout on 151.820 MHz this morning on the north side of town. Tune in with your scanner radio, or buy a set for the family.
--- 4:00 PM - COMING SOON: Wichita Falls Forecast: Saturday Night: A 40 percent chance of snow, mainly before midnight. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 5. Sunday: Partly sunny, with a high near 23. Sunday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 3. We're going to pay for that nice weather we had recently.

01-19-2026 - 5:30 AM - Good Morning! It's Monday, and my NFL teams didn't win the playoff games this weekend. That's okay, because I'm not that big a fan. I'll still watch the rest of the playoffs and the superbowl. A fan is someone who would sit in an 18-degree stadium for 4 hours. That is definitely not me. Not even close. I’ve got soothing Morse code running in the background, and my Folgers Black Silk coffee is ready. Let’s see what the day brings.
--- 5:45 AM - NWS Forecast - Today: Partly sunny, with a high near 44. Northeast wind 11 to 18 mph, with gusts as high as 28 mph. Tonight: Mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming clear, with a low around 21. Northeast wind 5 to 10 mph becoming light in the evening.
--- 7:10 AM - I hear Tim, KK5YZ, "aeronautical mobile" again on 146.580 MHz simplex. He's too "scratchy" to attempt a contact at the moment. I'll probably pass anyway and let others contact him. I've got enough "aeronautical mobiles" logged. I could ask him what type of aircraft he's flying, since I forgot to when I spoke with him on the 14th of this month.
--- 2:00 PM - Today, I had lunch with a former co-worker at the world-famous restaurant at the Jolly Truck Stop, just south of the big city of Wichita Falls. Well, famous for miles around. I had a delicious hamburger and fries.
--- 6:20 PM - I tuned to CB Radio Channel 23 to find a couple of guys from the Local Group conversing. I haven't checked the channel in a few days, but I figured they were maintaining their regular evening schedule.
